Newspapers in Education (NIE) is a collaboration between corporate and community sponsors, Island Packet, Beaufort Gazette and South Carolina schools. Together, we provide students with the opportunity to become literate, knowledgeable citizens.

The daily newspaper in a dynamic textbook that chronicles our times and stimulates young minds. Teachers can use newspapers to teach about current events, the stock market, math and cost comparison skills, geography and meteorology, history, advertising, environmental issues and much more.

This NIE site is intended to provide teachers at all levels, from kindergarten to adult education, with the tools to provide new ideas and programs that they can use in the classroom.
